Friends, As Wirtland showed its support to Julian Assange, I urge Wirtland’s government to do the same thing for members of Russian group ”Pussy Riot”!

We welcome witizens’ opinions about this case.

  1. Pussy Riot realy broke the law, i am in Russia and i was studied as the lawyer. Сriminals should bear punishment, witizens of Wirtland must to respect the law of other countries. Please, trust me, I tell the truth, looking that i am christian, that’s not the point. The matter is that Pussy Riot broke the law, law is law! There is a crime structure in their criminal case, the sentence is fair. I tell it with full responsibility and knowledge of a situation. Please, don’t give in on an agiotage!

    • Объясните что конкретно они нарушили?)) проконсультируй как юрист ) возможно жители найдут Ваши доводы объективными) и постарайтесь обойтись религиозных измышлений и дебатов(не собираюсь спорить, я атеист)

      • For fist, i will translate dmitri’s message to eanglish:
        - – - –
Explain that broke the law? ))consult as the lawyer) probably inhabitants will consider Your arguments the objective) also try without religious reflections and debates (i am not going to argue, I am an atheist)

My answer: Dmitry, I thank you for the comment. Not about religion – only law. My arguments are simple, I will quote the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation:
Clause 213 “Hooliganism”, part 2: “Hooliganism, that is rough violation of a public order, based on the political (racial, national… (etc)) hatred or hostility, the made made by a group of persons on preliminary arrangement, it is punished by a penalty in the size from 12529 EUR (a current rate of ruble to euro) to 7 years of prison”.

My comment, as lawyer: considering that the crime is made in the main temple of the country, against the first person of the country (I am not his fan, absolutely
!!!), offended feelings of hundreds and even millions believers, punishment can’t be soft – excuse me, it not to break a phone booth in an alcohol intoxication. This crime mentioned many and many peoples. The structure of a crime is obvious. They could receive 7 years of prison, to them gave only 2 years. Sentence not the most cruel.

I don’t see the reasons for debate. It is obvious that the law is broken. We, citizens of Wirtland, should respect laws of other countries. Criminal trial of Pussy Riot is absolutely legitimate. Julian Assange and Mikhail Khodorkovsky – other history. I absolutely share a position of Wirtland and proud to be the witizen of country, which respects justice.

But I am anxious with that we didn’t follow a fashion and didn’t provide citizenship for womans from Pussy Riot.

        With sincere respect,
        Sergey Prokhorenko

  2. Yes, Pussy Riot did break the law, although I don’t really agree with their way of doing things, the law also seems a bit odd. The were charged with hooliganism, just seems to be a catch-all for prosecuting people they don’t like. I’d rather support FEMEN over Pussy Riot. Assange was actually trying to change serious wrongs, while the Riot crew were just trying to get rid of Putin. Different class of protests.
